Since 1972, the EAN.UCC. System has expanded. It’s no longer just grocery
- 23 industries use EAN.UCC standards and bar code symbology
- The Uniform Code Council will begin assigning EAN Company Prefixes sometime after January 1, 2005
- Only EAN-13 numbers can be used with these prefixes
