Standard RFP Program Update
In other news, the new NRF-ARTS standard RFP program is on track to publish the POS application RFP in November. The RFP Committee meeting at NRFtech agreed to a three section format: 

* Master Agreement - Contract terms, conditions and RFP process rules 

* Architecture - Description of the required operating system, network and application environment 

* Features and Functions - The business activities that must be supported by the application to be selected 

The first draft of the POS Features and Functions section is available for review on the Data Model webboard under the RFP conference. Webboards can be accessed through the members-only section of the ARTS website The next RFP Committee meeting will be held September 18 and 19 at RadioShack in Ft. Worth. ARTS Data Model Update
The ARTS Data Model release 4.01 containing minor fixes to 4.0 is now available on the ARTS website to members in good standing only.
ARTS Pavilion Planning for NRF Annual Convention Underway 
This year's pavilion will be limited to 12 vendors. All participants must be able to interconnect with other vendor applications through IXRetail or UnifiedPOS. Send an email to Richard Mader if your company is interested in participating.
Infrastructure and POSlog V3 are Focus of August's IXRetail Meeting 
A first-draft of the IXRetail Infrastructure description and requirements document is available for member review and comments on the ARTS IXRetail webboard, accessible through the members-only section at ARTS. Datavantage attended the meeting and announced their support for POSlog, becoming the seventh major POS application provider to commit to this key standard.
Digital Asset Management (DAM) Schema Released 
The Digital Asset Management Schema, released August 10, is now available for download on ARTS. The ARTS Digital Asset Management Standard is an XML schema that allows retailers to request specific images from suppliers for communicating them in a standard format with associated classification information. ARTS is working with the Uniform Code Council (UCC) to ensure coordination with their image project.
ARTS and .Net for Retail to Cooperate 
ARTS and .Net for Retail, an XML initiative in Japan, have agreed in principal to cooperation. .Net for Retail will adopt the ARTS POSlog Standard and the ARTS Data Model, and IXRetail (International XML Retail Cooperative) will evaluate .Net's work for inclusion into IXRetail. A joint meeting is planned for November.

The agenda for this meeting includes IXRetail progress review on all completed and in progress schemas, Infrastructure update on further development of POSlog, Remote Equipment Monitoring and Control , Price V1 and Real Time Inventory. UnifiedPOS Meeting 22-24 September 2003 IBM offices, Chicago IL 
The committee is working on release 1.9 that will include an interface for RFID readers and expand the Smartcard reader-writer interface to include payment data. You can register on ARTS.
