ARTS Data Warehouse Model Overview

ARTS Data Warehouse Model (DWM), which complements the ARTS Operational Data Model, supports reporting for decision making and analysis.

The creation of ARTS Data Warehouse model reflects this separation of transactional databases from reporting/analytic databases.

There are a wide range of vendor offerings in the reporting and analysis area; however ARTS’ Data Warehouse Model solution identifies several key retail measures (also referred to as key Performance Indicators) to illustrate how retailers can extract vital information . It also identifies the data entities and attributes used to derive those key performance indicator’s and describe how to calculate them.

The ARTS Data Warehouse Model is designed around the concept of conformant dimensions. This means that the different fact tables (which now include inventory and store sales) use a consistent set of dimensional entities to identify customers, selling locations, inventory locations, reporting periods, retailer organizational responsibilities, etc.
